Lowinger is the founder, chief executive and principal psychologist of Sydney Anxiety Clinic. She is focused on transforming the lives of individuals using therapy to combat anxiety.
As a public speaker and media commentator, she wants to destigmatise anxiety and raise awareness that it is a widespread yet highly treatable condition.
She does not mind working long hours because she is passionate about the job.
“I actually find it energising rather than tiring … I find it a deep privilege to be able to help people,” she says.
Lowinger’s qualifications include a Master of Science and a Doctor of Clinical Psychology from the University of Sydney, where she was awarded the University Medal for Psychology. She also has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology Sydney.
She completed her doctoral research on anxiety and has worked at the Boston Children’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital Anxiety Disorders Clinic and Sutherland Hospital.
Psychologists in Australia work in diverse areas including organisational psychology, clinical neuropsychology, forensic psychology and educational and developmental psychology.
Lowinger operates Sydney Anxiety Clinic and another business, Mind Strength. Mind Strength is a consulting and coaching organisation that provides resilience, wellness and peak-performance coaching programs. It also offers workshops and presentations for individuals, businesses and schools.
Sydney Anxiety Clinic was a finalist in the Health Services Business of the Year category in the 2018 Optus My Business Awards.
