It takes place on May 4, and will launch the spring exhibit. The show is curated, as always, by Andrew Bolton.
The Gala is one of the most-anticipated red carpets of the year, and was documented in the film First Monday in May. The documentary shows Wintour and her committee, which the year the film was made included Rihanna, taking a very hands-on approach to everything from the guest list to seating.
Bolton told Vogue the exhibition is “a reimagining of fashion history that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous”.
This year’s co-chairs were singers Harry Styles and Lady Gaga, tennis champion Serena Williams and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.
After Streep’s portrayal of the archetypal stuck-up women’s magazine editor in The Devil Wears Prada, Wintour and her daughter, Bee Shaffer, attended the New York premiere, dressed in matching Prada outfits, of course.
