Man injured Glenroy fire dies in hospital

A man seriously injured after a home behind a shop in Melbourne’s north went up in flames has died in hospital.

The blaze in Glenroy started about 9.45pm on Wednesday at a house connected to a store in Widford Street. Emergency services were alerted to the fire by a 35-year-old man who lived at the address.

A 50-year-old man who also lived at the property was found unconscious outside with severe burns and was taken to The Alfred hospital. He died on Thursday afternoon.

The man who had alerted emergency services, was found inside when firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the property.
