D’Arcy Short sinks languishing Melbourne Stars

The Melbourne Stars continued their now three-game losing streak on Monday night, suffering their biggest defeat to the Hobart Hurricanes, who were led by a unbeaten match-winning D’Arcy Short innings of 96 from 56 balls at the MCG.

Short’s knock, which paved the way for the Hurricanes’ 59-run victory, was the highest score of the BBL season – and it would have been a ton had he not been robbed of a boundary wrongly deemed leg byes by the umpire.

The silver lining for the Stars is that they have endured their final outing without Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb and Adam Zampa, who are all set to return from the Australian ODI camp for the Melbourne derby on Saturday.

The Stars, who remain at the bottom of the league ladder, have lost all three matches without the quartet.
