Activists: Blast in Northern Syria Kills 39

Syrian activists say an explosion in the country’s north has killed at least 39 people.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the blast occurred at a weapons depot in village of Sarmada in the mainly rebel-held province of Idlib, near the Turkish border.

The cause of the blast is not yet known.

The Observatory said women and children were among those killed.
